Commencement to Be Held Dec. 16 at Community Arts Center

More than 400 students have petitioned to graduate in December from Pennsylvania College of Technology, which will hold a commencement ceremony at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 16, at the Community Arts Center in Williamsport.
The student speaker will be Samuel D. Ranck, of South Williamsport, who is enrolled in the bachelor-degree business administration-management major in the School of Business and Computer Technologies.
Also speaking will be Jeffrey B. Weaver, assistant professor of electronics, who was presented with the 2006 Master Teacher Award in May. The Master Teacher Award is the highest level of recognition given to a Penn College faculty member.
Weaver began his employment with Penn College in 1987 as an instructor of electronics; he was promoted to assistant professor in 1995. He received Excellence in Teaching Awards from the college in 1993 and 2000. Previously, Weaver was employed in the electronics industry for 11 years. He received a bachelor's degree in management of technology from Lock Haven University and an associate degree in engineering technology from The Pennsylvania State University.
During the ceremony, Penn College President Davie Jane Gilmour will present an Alumni Citizenship/Humanitarian Award and a Mentorship Award on behalf of the college. She will be joined by Penn College Board of Directors Vice Chair Ronna M. Cassotis as she confers bachelor's degrees, associate degrees and certificates upon the graduates.
