Collision Repair Student Inaugural Award Recipient

Ethan G. Smith of Lititz, who will graduate Saturday with a degree in collision repair technology, is the first recipient of the Penn College collision repair department's Orelli Award for student service-adviser excellence.
The award is sponsored by Rusty Orelli and Orelli's Supply Co., 192 Locust St., Williamsport, the PPG paint and materials supplier for the department's paint lab.
Smith spent his first two semesters performing shop cleanup and maintenance duties in the collision lab along with his class schedule, and served a Toyota T-Ten internship during the summer of 2004. In his last two semesters, he has been a shop service adviser in addition to his academic responsibilities.
To qualify for the award, a student must:
- Be a graduating student in the bachelor- or associate-degree collision repair major
- Attain an overall grade-point average of 3.5 or higher
- Serve at least one year (two semesters) of duty as a service adviser
- Successfully complete a summer internship between the first and second year
- Successfully complete the I-CAR Customer Relations and Collision Repair Program
- Successfully complete the Pennsylvania State Inspection License Certification
- Exhibit a proven track record ofsuccess and accuracy in handling customers' repair orders, as witnessed by collision repair faculty
"Ethan has been a tremendous asset to the collision repair lab," said Stephen T. Duna, instructor of collision repair. "He has worked diligently with the collision repair faculty and other students in the major, as well as our customers, students, staff and faculty. Ethan will be missed."
The collision repair faculty wishes him the best of luck in all of his future endeavors.
