Collision-Repair Instructor Achieves Double 'Master' Certification

Stephen T. Duna, instructor of collision repair at Pennsylvania College of Technology, recently was recognized by Chief Automotive Systems Training Division with certification as a Master Collision Estimator − only the eighth person nationwide to attain double Master certification for structural repair and collision estimating from Chief.
Successful completion of all Chief training courses offered is required to achieve double Master status. A total of 136 hours of frame and estimating training in a Chief-approved setting on Chief equipment, including Chief's computerized measuring system, is required to satisfy the stringent requirements for double Master status.
Training locations include Penn College's 38,000-plus-square-foot collision-repair lab in Williamsport, Pa.; State Farm's Training Center in Edison, N.J.; Cumming Motors' 21,000-square-foot collision-repair center in Altoona, Pa.; and the GMAC Training Center in Winston-Salem, N.C.
Duna has been employed by the Collision Repair Department, part of Penn College's School of Transportation Technology, since August 2003. He earlier worked in the frame and paint shops at Mike's Auto Center in Richlandtown, Pa., and taught at the Upper Bucks County Area Vocational-Technical School.
He holds an associate's degree from Northampton Community College, a bachelor's from Cedar Crest College and a master's degree from Villanova University. He is pursuing his Ph.D. in Workforce Education and Development at The Pennsylvania State University.
