Phi Mu DeltaThe national Phi Mu Delta fraternity has recognized the Mu Xi Chapter at Penn College as a "Chapter of Excellence" for the 2014-15 academic year, with the possibility of greater recognition at an outdoor retreat from June 4-7.

"Your outstanding accomplishments have not gone unnoticed," Brother Anthony D. Gobbi was told in a letter from Thomas A. Murphy, Phi Mu Delta's executive director. Gobbi, of Haymarket, Virginia, is the chapter president and a rising senior in the college's building automation technology: heating, ventilation and air conditioning concentration.

Mu Xi representatives were invited to make a 45-minute presentation to the undergraduate delegates of the fraternity's Sapphire Leadership Institute in consideration for the Clarence Dexter Pierce Chapter of the Year Award. That presentation will be held Saturday, June 6, the next-to-last day of the Medford Lakes, New Jersey, institute.

"We are so very proud of our Phi Mu Delta gentlemen, as they are very deserving of this honor," said Allison A. Bressler, assistant director of student activities for programming and Greek life. "They exemplify not only the values of their organization, but also the values of Penn College. We believe our gentlemen are extremely passionate about fraternity and cannot wait to hear the results!"

In making its case for "Chapter of the Year" honors, the Penn College brothers have been asked to highlight Mu Xi's successes, discuss any challenges and how they were overcome, and detail what makes the Phi Mu Delta experience unique on their campus.
