College to Host High School Computer Fair Regional Competition

Pennsylvania College of Technology will host, and College employees will serve as judges for, a regional competition for the 2004 Pennsylvania High School Computer Fair on March 11-12.

BLaST Intermediate Unit #17 is sponsoring the annual event, which tests the application skills and computer knowledge of students in grades 9-12 with a variety of challenging projects. The College's Outreach for K-12 Office is working with BLaST IU #17 to coordinate the hosting of the event.

Penn College employees will serve as judges for student projects. The competitions and judges are:

Business Applications: Candace S. Baran, director, professional and community education; Computer Fair Logo: Marianne E. Wright, workforce development consultant; Curriculum-Based Web Page Design: Judith A. Fink, manager of Web design; Digital Movie: Dan R. Rockwell, workforce development consultant; Graphic Design: Heidi V. Mack, supervisor of design and publishing; Information-Based Web Page Design: Fink and Kimberly A. Venti, secretary, professional and community education; Multimedia Presentations: Wright; Text-Based Desktop Publishing: Venti.

First-, second- and third-place winners will receive individual plaques; all competitors will receive a participation award.

First-place winners will advance to the State Computer Fair, to be hosted by Dickinson College, Carlisle, on May 25. More information is available on the Web.
