College Staff Members Present at National Conference

Two staff members from Pennsylvania College of Technology presented a workshop at the annual conference of the National Coalition for Campus Children's Centers.
Karen Woland Payne, director of the Children's Learning Center at Penn College, and Barbara J. Albert, an early childhood education program specialist, presented a session titled "Two Accreditations!" at the conference, held March 6-8 in Bethesda, Md.
The two shared their experiences in successfully completing two very different accreditation processes the Middle States Commission on Elementary Schools in 2006 and the National Association for the Education of Young Children in 2007 for the Children's Learning Center.
Payne holds a bachelor's degree in English from Barnard College, Columbia University; a master's degree in early childhood education from Bloomsburg University; and a Pennsylvania Teacher Certification in nursery through third grade.
Albert holds a bachelor's degree in psychology from Bucknell University and a master's degree in human development and family studies from The Pennsylvania State University. She is certified as a nursery and kindergarten teacher by the Pennsylvania Department of Education.
The Children's Learning Center serves Penn College students and employees whose children need high-quality, on-campus care and education while their parents are at work or attend classes.
