Penn College President Davie Jane Gilmour, in her inaugural year as chair of the Little League International Board of Directors, participated in opening ceremonies for the 67th annual Little League Baseball World Series in South Williamsport on Thursday morning. A few hours before play began between the Latin American and Caribbean entries, President Gilmour welcomed the world to an event that is both a regional favorite and a global phenomenon. Borough Mayor David Lechniak and Williamsport Mayor Gabriel Campana also took part in the ceremony at Volunteer Stadium, which included a parade of the 16 teams in the Series bracket and recitation of the Little League Pledge.
