College Names Assistant Dean of Business, Computer Technologies

Carolyn M. JacobsonCarolyn M. Jacobson has been named assistant dean of business and computer technologies at Pennsylvania College of Technology.

“We are very pleased to have Dr. Jacobson join the School of Business and Computer Technologies at Penn College,” said Paul L. Starkey, vice president for academic affairs/provost. “She brings a wealth of teaching, administrative and assessment experience, and we are certain she will be a valuable contributor and team member.”

Jacobson most recently was director of graduate and adult business programs, as well as a professor of information systems, at Mount St. Mary’s University. From 2000-06, she chaired the Department of Information Systems and Management Science at Marymount University, where she also taught information systems.

She also has served on the faculty at Shippensburg University, Gettysburg College and Ohio University.

“We are pleased to welcome Dr. Jacobson to our school administrative team,” said Edward A. Henninger, dean of business and computer technologies. “Her diverse experiences in college teaching and administration, as well as the leadership positions she holds in professional organizations including ABET (a national higher-education accreditation organization) will positively impact our school’s continued growth and development.”

Jacobson earned a doctorate in organizational communication (with a minor in human resources management) and a master’s degree from Ohio University; she also holds a bachelor’s degree from Oberlin College and has done postdoctoral work in information systems at Indiana University and the University of Minnesota.
