Vocational competition held on campus Two dozen students from area high schools and vocational-technical institutions were on the Penn College campus for regional SkillsUSA competition Friday, hoping to earn a spot in the state contest April 1-3 (and, ultimately, in the National Leadership and Skills Conference in Kansas City, Mo., from June 22-26). The students were stationed in a number of college laboratories, ranging from HVAC/plumbing to welding to architectural drafting. In the photo at left, three students judged by two representatives of a local bricklayers union; encouraged by Penn College instructors Glenn R. Luse and Richard R. Motter, and helped by donations from Reynolds Iron Works, Williamsport, and Leonard Block Co, Jersey Shore compete in the School of Construction and Design Technologies' masonry lab.
