College Hosts Alumni Event at Evangelical Community Hospital

Pennsylvania College of Technology recently hosted an alumni event at Evangelical Community Hospital in Lewisburg, which counts among its employees a total of 58 people who are graduates of Penn College or its predecessor institutions.
The alumni at the hospital represent a span of 26 years at the College (1975-2001). Thirty-nine graduated from Penn College, and 19 graduated from Williamsport Area Community College.
The radiology department at the hospital employs 52 full- and part-time workers. Of those employees, 24 are alumni of the College an administrator, a secretary, a transcriptionist and 21 radiographers. Two of the radiographer alumni are sisters: Judy and Trudy Graybill.
"Penn College and Evangelical Community Hospital recently formed a partnership that allows licensed practical nurses working at the hospital the opportunity to earn an associate's degree in nursing from the College," said Barbara Danko, director of alumni relations. "This was an excellent occasion to expand our presence and provide the Evangelical employees with additional educational information to enhance their careers. In addition to speaking with many of our alumni, we were especially pleased to meet with hospital employees who are interested in furthering their education."
The innovative event was the second in a series that the College is hosting for alumni at area businesses and organizations. The receptions help the College stay in touch with its increasing alumni population and provide expanded educational opportunities to employees for professional development. Additionally, the employers gain access to the College's upcoming graduates through career fairs, e-recruiting, interviewing on campus and other initiatives.
Surveys have shown that more than 80 percent of Penn College's alumni remain in Pennsylvania after graduation.
