Penn College students and administration were among the community leaders taking part in Thursday evening’s festive Grand Slam Parade to officially begin the Little League World Series. At far left, students Jacqueline L. Daniels and Andrew S. Wisner (the college’s 2007-08 Student Government Association president) carry the College Town banner. Joining them along the West Fourth Street parade route, seated from left in a white convertible, were Penn College President Davie Jane Gilmour; James Douthat, Lycoming College president; and Mary Weaver, Newport Business Institute director. Other students participated, as well, handing out College Town cups and other memorabilia before the parade ended at Market Square. Among other dignitaries in the parade were Gov. Edward G. Rendell and Hall of Fame catcher Carlton Fisk.
