A total of 1,914 fans, attending the Williamsport Crosscutters' annual Penn College "Pack the Park Night" at Bowman Field on Thursday, saw a 9-5 victory against the visiting Mahoning Valley Scrappers. The game's ceremonial first pitch was thrown by applied health sciences student Leroy Joiner – a two-time, first-team All-American basketball player at Penn College, and a 1,000-point scorer within two seasons. There was plenty of excitement on the field, including a grand-slam homer, and fun activities between innings. After the game, a select group of students participated in the Tuition Toss for a chance at $10,000; no one left a big winner, but consolation prizes were won by Travis Deaver, Samantha Purcell and Emily Vinson.
