'Boomer' delights fans An on-deck batter spends his moment in the dwindling sun Heading homewardA total of 1,914 fans, attending the Williamsport Crosscutters' annual Penn College "Pack the Park Night" at Bowman Field on Thursday, saw a 9-5 victory against the visiting Mahoning Valley Scrappers. The game's ceremonial first pitch was thrown by applied health sciences student Leroy Joiner – a two-time, first-team All-American basketball player at Penn College, and a 1,000-point scorer within two seasons. There was plenty of excitement on the field, including a grand-slam homer, and fun activities between innings. After the game, a select group of students participated in the Tuition Toss for a chance at $10,000; no one left a big winner, but consolation prizes were won by Travis Deaver, Samantha Purcell and Emily Vinson.
