College Community Urged to Heed Hypersensitivity to Aromatics

Penn College employs a number of persons who are hypersensitive to perfumes, colognes and similar aromatics. No doubt there are students attending the college who suffer from the same problem. Small amounts, even from a distance, can cause genuine distress for the respiratory systems of those who suffer from that condition. Asthma, nausea and/or migraine headaches can result and lead to the necessity to take time off from work or school. In more severe cases, individuals can end up in the hospital. Please use perfume, colognes and similar aromatics in moderation and, if it is brought to your attention that a problem exists in your work area, please demonstrate a willingness to cooperate.
