Club Members Place in Collegiate Karate Tournament


The Penn College Martial Arts Club competed in its first East Coast Collegiate Karate Union Tournament at West Chester University on Saturday. Club members Morgan A. Olbrich, Cory L. Buckles and Mathew D. Johnson competed in kata (forms) and kumite (sparring) against students representing Drexel, Temple, Rochester, William and Mary, Virginia and Penn State universities, as well as the host institution. Johnson and Buckles placed second and third, respectively, in the beginners division for kumite. Penn College will host the next ECCKU tournament on Feb. 11.
