Family Promise of Lycoming County

A toddler-created collection box stands ready for donations in the LEC hallway outside the child care center.

In honor of Dr. Seuss Week, a national observance tied to the famed author's March 2 birthday, the Dunham Children's Learning Center is giving back to its community.

Throughout the week of Feb. 28, the center is collecting socks – the most-requested item in shelters across America – for donation to Family Promise of Lycoming County. The local organization is committed to helping homeless families get back on their feet by providing a clothing closet, food bank, and classes that feature financial training and other life skills.

Espousing a message of "Warm Feet, Happy Hearts," the center (Hager Lifelong Education Center, first floor) encourages the donation of new socks for any gender, adult or child sizes.
