Civil Engineering/Surveying Faculty Trained on New GPS Equipment

Civil engineering technology and surveying technology faculty received training on new global positioning system equipment Wednesday.
The training on the Topcon Positioning Systems HiPerLite+ GPS equipment was presented by Randy Miller from Productivity Products and Services, Saxonburg, a distributor of Topcon Positioning Systems.
Debra M. Miller, Penn College's director of corporate relations, said the college acquired the new equipment at a significantly reduced price through Topcon's educational-partner program.
"The availability of GPS technology for use by our faculty and students is very important to keep our curriculum current," Miller said. "We are fortunate to be able to bring this level of technology to our classrooms, and we are very pleased to partner with Topcon and Productivity Products and Services on this endeavor."
Miller said the faculty members hope to incorporate the new GPS equipment into the civil engineering technology and surveying technology curriculum later this semester.
