In celebration of Children’s Authors and Illustrators Week, youngsters from the Children’s Learning Center at Penn College visited The Madigan Library for story time between 9:30-10:30 a.m. Feb. 1-4. A total of 46 children, ranging in age from 18 months to 5 years, listened and interacted enthusiastically as Nicole S. Staron, library circulation assistant, and Blair E. Smith, library operations assistant, took turns reading to the groups. Several titles were selected from the library’s extensive juvenile books collection that supports the college’s Early Childhood Education program. “The Old Black Fly,” about a family’s encounter with a pesky fly; a Jane Yolen board book titled “How Do Dinosaurs Play With Their Friends?” and the rhyming and tender, “Llama, Llama Red Pajama,” among others, kept the Bears, Bees, Birds and Bunnies in delightful states including shooing imaginary flies during their hourlong visits.
