Ceremonies Honor Graduating Student-Athletes, Champion Wrestlers

The Pennsylvania College of Technology Athletics Department honored the graduating members of the baseball team Saturday, as well as the 2011-12 Penn State UniversityAthletic Conference Championship Wrestling Squad. The following day, as a regional tournament drew to a close, "Senior Day" was also held for members of the Wildcat archery team.

Baseball Senior baseball players gather with their families and head coach Chris Howard For baseball, the team graduated nine seniors, five of whom are four-year letter winners. Head coach Chris Howard called the class one of his most talented since he's been at the helm and he said he will be sad to see them go.

Graduating members of the baseball team and their majors are:

Jarod Bull, residential construction technology and management; Skylar Gingrich, building construction technology; Garrett Hornung, surveying technology; Thomas Hughes and Tyler Rice, heating, ventilation and air conditioning design technology; Jared Johnson, business management; Matt King, building science and sustainable design; Harrison Myers, architectural technology; and Zachary Smith, heating, ventilation and air conditioning technology.

Wrestling Coach Schuyler Frey's conference champion wrestlers are acknowledged outside the Field House The Penn College Wrestling team was honored after a banner 2011-12 season that saw the team capture the school's and conference's first-ever Penn State University Athletic Conference Championship. The Wildcats finished the season 6-3 overall and boasted its first two All-Americans in Derek Leiby, who finished third nationally, and Tyler Myers, who was eighth.

Archery On Sunday, following the conclusion of the East Regional Intercollegiate Archery Championships, the Penn College archery team honored its seven graduating members from this year's squad.

Archery 'Senior Day' held in Field House Head coach Brian Parker was proud of the class that was a mix of both rookies and seasoned veterans and is the first class graduating under him as head of the program.

Graduating members and their majors are:

Brandon Allison and Clint Hinton, aviation maintenance technology; Ashley Baker, welding and fabrication engineering technology; Zachary Bixby, surveying technology; Carrie Eichenlaub, radiography; Eileen McKinney, legal assistant/paralegal; and Glen Thomas, manufacturing engineering technology.
