Celtic Fiddler to Perform During Governor's Awards Gallery Hop

Kathryn BroskyThe Gallery at Penn College, on the third floor of Pennsylvania College of Technology's Madigan Library, will host Celtic fiddler Kathryn Brosky on Nov. 11 in conjunction with Williamsport Celebrates the Arts.

Brosky will offer traditional Irish music, including jigs, reels and other toe-tapping dance music, from 8-9:30 p.m. A graduate of Susquehanna University, she recently performed with the university's orchestra at Carnegie Hall. She teaches violin, viola and fiddling from her Montoursville studio.

The gallery will be among trolley stops that evening on a Governor's Awards Gallery Hop around Williamsport. Williamsport Celebrates the Arts is a series of weeklong events surrounding the Governor's Awards for the Arts in Pennsylvania, for which Williamsport was named host city for 2008. The awards ceremony takes place Nov. 12.

The gallery's current exhibit, a collection of paintings and drawings by Brian Bishop, runs through Nov. 21. Gallery hours are Saturday and Sunday, 1 to 4 p.m.; Tuesday and Thursday, 2 to 8 p.m.; and Wednesday and Friday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. All exhibits are free and open to the public.
