Penn College Golfers Seek Continued Success

Coming off its best season ever in North Eastern Athletic Conference play with a third-place finish in the spring – and with three returning all-conference players and another who ended in the top 20 – Pennsylvania College of Technology golf coach Matt Haile has plenty to be optimistic about as he enters his 10th season. The Wildcats open their fall season Wednesday at the Keuka College Invitational.

Penn College Coaches Hopeful

Five of eight Pennsylvania College of Technology fall sports teams debut in nonconference action this week as the men’s soccer team opens at 7 p.m. Friday at Hood College, the women’s soccer team begins at 7 p.m. Friday at King’s College, the men’s and women’s cross-country teams open at 6 p.m. Friday at Misericordia University, and the women’s volleyball opens at 10 a.m. Saturday at Lycoming College in a quadrangular that includes Clarks Summit University and Wilkes University.

Penn College Athletics Has Plenty to Celebrate

In its fourth season as a member of the North Eastern Athletic Conference, and first as a full-fledged member of NCAA Division III, the Pennsylvania College of Technology Athletics Department has plenty to celebrate this year, including:

Three second-place NEAC finishers (baseball, men’s cross-country and women’s soccer); one third-place NEAC finisher (men’s golf); two other top-four finishers (men’s soccer and women’s softball); 11 all-NEAC First Team honorees; 12 all-NEAC Second Team honorees; 12 all-NEAC Third Team honorees; a NCAA Division III Regional Wrestling fourth-place finisher; and, in archery, an individual national champion, a team third-place finish and four All-Americans.

Penn College Baseball Coach Looks Ahead

Less than 24 hours after his team’s season ended May 13, Pennsylvania College of Technology baseball coach Chris Howard was washing uniforms, reflecting on this year and planning for next.

Seeded second in the conference tournament, the Wildcats went 2-2, and for the second year in a row finished second to Penn State Berks in the North Eastern Athletic Conference, completing a 20-15 overall season, 11-5 in conference games.

Penn College Second in Baseball; Archery Team Seeks Titles

And then there was one.

After the Pennsylvania College of Technology baseball team completed its season Sunday with a second-place finish in the North Eastern Athletic Conference, the archery squad will put a wrap on the college’s 2017-18 athletic season this coming weekend when it competes in the Collegiate Outdoor Nationals at Easton Newberry Archery Center, Newberry, Florida.

Penn College Athletes Have Huge Week

In one of the most action-packed weeks in recent memory, the spotlight is shining on Pennsylvania College of Technology athletes in multiple sports.

Over the past week:

  • The men’s tennis season ended with two North Eastern Athletic Conference individual champions, three second-place finishes, one third and two fourths. Plus, the team’s second-year coach was named the conference’s co-coach of the year.
  • The men’s golf season ended with a third-place team finish in the NEAC Championships and four all-conference selections.
  • The softball team qualified for the NEAC postseason and steps into play on Thursday.
  • The archery squad hosted the East Region Outdoor Collegiate Championships and claimed 10 Top 3 finishes in individual and team competition and nine of its archers earned All-East Team honors.
  • Six individuals were honored with three yearly awards at the college’s second annual athletics banquet.

And this week:

  • The baseball team has two key games that will determine its NEAC postseason playoff position.

Wildcat Archers Set to Hold Big Event

While Pennsylvania College of Technology baseball, softball, men’s golf and men’s tennis teams posted victories last week, the college’s archers are getting set to host their only home event of the year — the East Region Outdoor Collegiate Championships this Saturday and Sunday — and coach Chad Karstetter has high hopes for his team.

“We have been working very hard outside, even though the weather has not cooperated and spring does not seem to be here yet,” he said early last week.

“Overall, the team looks very strong and I believe it will show at our event,” Karstetter said. “We are looking forward to having a home event this year. It’s nice to have the home-field advantage.”

Penn College Golfers Have High Hopes

After a great fall season, the Pennsylvania College of Technology men’s golf team was scheduled to resume play at noon Monday at the Dutchmen Spring Invitational at Lebanon Valley College. Last week, the baseball, softball and men’s tennis teams all tasted victory.
