Golf Classic raises record $140,000-plus for scholarships

The 36th Annual Penn College Foundation Golf Classic, featuring six-time PGA Tour winner Rocco Mediate, recently raised a record-setting $140,360 for student scholarships at Pennsylvania College of Technology.

With this year’s support, the Penn College Foundation Golf Classic Scholarship Fund now totals nearly $2.1 million. Proceeds from the annual Golf Classic and accumulated investment income created the endowed scholarship fund, one of the foundation’s largest.

Mediate, a Greensburg native who has also won three times on the Champions Tour, including the 2016 Senior PGA Championship, hosted a driving-range exhibition and played three holes with seven foursomes during the event, held at the Williamsport Country Club.

College, Alexander Family Dealerships collaborate on digital sign

The new digital billboard is installed last month along Interstate 180 near Penn College.

In partnership with Pennsylvania College of Technology, Blaise Alexander Family Dealerships has made a significant donation to erect color digital signage along Interstate 180 near the college.

The double-sided, 14-by-48-foot sign – which stands 70 feet high – replaces an existing college-owned sign that is no longer in operation.

Penn College will use the sign to promote academic programs, as well as a range of activities and events, Wildcat Athletics and college-related initiatives.

Ford ASSET student awarded automotive scholarship

A Pennsylvania College of Technology student enrolled in the college’s Ford ASSET major and working at a Tioga County dealership has received a $5,000 scholarship from the Pennsylvania Automotive Association.

Derek T. Dreps, of Liberty, was presented with a check in the Parkes Automotive Technology Center in late May. The PAA Automotive Technology Scholarship, awarded through a fund within the PAA Foundation to a student in a qualifying academic program, is renewable for an additional year.

Alexander dealerships recognized for all-star support of students

The Blaise Alexander Family Dealerships, with 18 locations that employ a number of Penn College alumni, was honored Wednesday for its inspiring generosity and ongoing dedication to Wildcat Athletics. Through scholarship support, mentorship and other substantial contributions – including new scoreboards in Bardo Gymnasium – the Alexander family’s financial commitment was noted by the Wildcat Club as “creating lasting impact for our student-athletes and the athletic facilities they call home.” Among those on hand for Corporate Partner Day during a basketball doubleheader against the College of Saint Elizabeth was Aubrey Alexander, a 2009 business administration graduate and member of the Penn College Foundation Board of Directors.

Area Auto Dealer’s Generous Donation Boosts Wildcat Athletics

A $100,000 donation from the Blaise Alexander Family Dealerships will enhance Wildcat Athletics at Pennsylvania College of Technology.

The donation will support athletic facilities, beginning with the purchase of two new scoreboards for use in Bardo Gymnasium. Built in 1939, Bardo Gym has a seating capacity of 1,500 and serves as the home of Wildcat basketball, volleyball and wrestling teams, as well as intramural and club sports at Penn College.

The Muncy-based Blaise Alexander Family Dealerships operates 18 automobile dealerships in central and northcentral Pennsylvania, employing numerous alumni of Penn College.
