Camp Offers Glimpse at Engineering Technology Careers

Pennsylvania College of Technology recently hosted 22 area high school students on campus during its free Discover Engineering Technology Camp.
The two-day camp serves as an opportunity for students entering grades nine and 10 to learn about the variety of careers available in the engineering technology field, as well as the programs offered through the college's School of Industrial and Engineering Technologies.
Campers attended a variety of hands-on workshops in Penn College's laboratories, where they were guided by full-time college faculty. The students participated in activities in the departments of automated manufacturing, civil engineering technology, drafting and CAD technology, electronics and computer engineering technology, and plastics and polymer engineering technology.
"This camp was a wonderful way for students to interact with faculty and learn more about Penn College," said Stacey C. Hampton, coordinator of matriculation and retention for the School of Industrial and Engineering Technologies (who provided most of the photos that accompany this article). "We hope this camp was able to provide students with an awareness of the many career opportunities in the engineering technology field."
Students from across the region attended the event, during which they also participated in tours of the college's facilities and campus.
