Bitcoin documentary to be shown free at CAC

The Lycoming College Scholars Program invites the campus community to a screening of the documentary, “The Rise and Rise of Bitcoin,” about the impending global impact of decentralized digital currency. The film begins at 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 28, at the Community Arts Center in downtown Williamsport. The event is free and open to the public. The documentary tells the story of a computer programmer whose fascination leads him to become actively involved in all things Bitcoin. Viewers will follow the stories of individuals, entrepreneurs and businesses that are shaping the rapidly growing world of Bitcoin; and explore the competitive mining market and various subcultures within that community, as well as the social and political impact of the cryptocurrency. The screening is intended to help Lycoming College Scholars further explore the program's Fall 2019 "Money" theme and build community partnerships.
