Biology Professor Serves as Peer Reviewer for National Case Studies

David L. Evans, professor of biology (anatomy and physiology) at Pennsylvania College of Technology, served as a peer reviewer for the National Center for Case Study Teaching in Science in 2013.

The NCCST publishes outstanding case studies, including 500 peer-reviewed STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) studies in the past 15 years.

Evans joined the Penn College faculty in 1990. He previously taught at American University of Beirut in Lebanon. He holds a doctorate from the University of Illinois, a master’s degree from Utah State University and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Arizona.

He regularly serves as a peer reviewer for scientific journals and is also active in writing and publishing biology resources. The Human Anatomy and Physiology Society awarded Evans its 2013 President’s Medal for distinguished service to the society.

Evans also serves on the editorial board of BioScience, the monthly peer-reviewed journal of the American Institute of Biological Sciences, and he is an elected member of three honorary societies: Beta Beta Beta National Biological Honor Society; Sigma Xi, The Scientific Research Society; and The Royal Entomological Society. He is a life member of the Lepidopterists’ Society, a problem captain for Odyssey of the Mind and a member of the Williamsport Book Club.
