Baier, Brennan Named Penn College 'Athletes of the Year'

Prior to Sunday's baseball game, the Pennsylvania College of Technology Athletics Department announced the recipients of the 2014 Athlete of the Year awards.  Junior archer Kendel Baier, of Jersey Shore, was Female Athlete of the Year, and senior men’s soccer player Christopher Brennan, of New Hope, was named Male Athlete of the Year  The awards are voted upon by committee and are based solely on athletic performance.

Baier has already earned her sport’s highest collegiate honor with national and individual titles for women’s bowhunter at the 2013 U.S. Collegiate Archery National Championships, as well as being named a national All-American.  She is well on her way again this year, winning every single tournament the team has entered so far, including the Eastern Regional Indoor Championships, the Adam Wheatcroft Memorial Tournament and this past weekend’s Eastern Regional outdoor championships. She was also named an All-East Team selection. She is one of the top-ranked female bowhunters in the country and will defend her title in May at the U.S. Intercollegiate Championships in Long Beach, Calif.

Christopher Brennan
Brennan has been a standout since his rookie season, but had his strongest year this past fall.  He led the Penn State University Athletic Conference and his team in goals, points and game-winning goals, and was ranked nationally in those categories in the United States Collegiate Athletic Association.  He broke the single-game, single-season and career scoring records for the college, finishing his career with an impressive 72 goals.  He was a three-time conference Player of the Week selection, and was named to the All-Conference, First-Team in addition to being voted PSUAC Men’s Soccer Player of the Year.  He capped it all off earning USCAA First-Team, All-American honors.
