Autodesk honors Penn College faculty member

Autodesk recognized the contributions of a Pennsylvania College of Technology faculty member to its support network during the recent Expert Elite Global Summit in Las Vegas.

The multinational software corporation honored J.D. Mather, assistant professor of engineering design technology, as 5-Year Top Expert Elite Autodesk Forums contributor for submitting nearly 500 screencast videos to the Autodesk Knowledge Network, a repository of educational content for the Autodesk community.

J.D. MatherAutodesk is a leader in 3D design, engineering and entertainment software.

Mather has taught at Penn College since 1999 and is a recipient of the Veronica M. Muzic Master Teacher Award, the highest honor accorded to a faculty member at the college. He holds an associate degree from John Tyler Community College, a bachelor’s degree from Virginia Tech, and master’s and doctoral degrees from East Tennessee State University.

Prior to the summit, Mather attended Autodesk University with Dorothy J. Gerring, associate professor of architectural technology, and William Geyer, retired construction faculty member. At the conference, Mather presented “Educators Meetup: Flipping the Classroom,” a discussion about creating and using customized lecture videos utilizing Autodesk design software and including accessibility considerations. Mather also completed the Autodesk Inventor 2019 Professional recertification.

“We are proud that J.D. represented the college at Autodesk University and that he received well-deserved recognition for his considerable contributions to the Autodesk support community,” said David R. Cotner, dean of Penn College’s School of Industrial, Computing & Engineering Technologies. “His commitment to sharing his expertise sets a great example and is very commendable.”
