This week's Green Tip, particularly timely for Earth Day, comes from Penn College's Energy Conservation Subcommittee and Earth911.com: "The color green surrounds us withplants and leaves, grass and trees. Whether you are aware of it or not, plastic is all around us, too. We walk on it, wear it, drive it and use it every day. No matter how you size it up, plastics are a big part of our everyday lives. The more you know, the more you'll be able to appreciate the multitude of recycling opportunities available beyond bags and bottles. Many companies are hard at work to reduce the amount of material they use and help the environment, extend product shelf life and lessen waste. The next time you feel carpet under your feet, you may be walking onold bottles that you tossed in the recycling bin. Plastic woven into clothing is what helps keep them wrinkle-resistantand longer-wearing. Fleece products often are made from recycled plastic. Live green, this day, this week and every day. The 40th anniversary of Earth Day is Thursday (April 22). Celebrate with continued commitment to recycling and reusing, with the goal of restoring and sustaining our green home, Planet Earth."
