The new president of South Florida State College began his ascent into college leadership at Williamsport Area Community College, a forerunner of Penn College. Thomas C. Leitzel, who graduated from WACC in 1976 with a degree in business administration, later joined the administration and served as assistant director (1983-85) and evening and weekend coordinator (1981-83) in the college’s business and computer technologies division. President Davie Jane Gilmour recently received a letter from Leitzel, thanking her for sending him a copy of the college’s “Legacy of Leaders” centennial publication. “What a treasure. It is a beautiful and well-chronicled publication highlighting the transformative leadership that shaped an institution to achieve acclaim on a national and international stage,” he wrote. "The institution you now lead changed my life.”
