Administrator to Be Honored in 'Who's Who'

Dr. Mark A. Paternostro, associate vice president for academic services at Pennsylvania College of Technology, will be published in the ninth edition of "Who's Who Among America's Teachers."
Teachers whose biographies appear in the book have been nominated by a former student. Students listed in "Who's Who Among American High School Students," "Who's Who Among American High School Students Sports Edition" and "The National Dean's List" are invited to nominate a former teacher who has contributed significantly to their success and growth.
"It's nice to know that students think that highly of you. It's unsolicited, so they're going out of their way to do it, and that's a nice feeling," Dr. Paternostro said.
Dr. Paternostro was also nominated for the eighth edition of the publication, which was published in October. According to "Who's Who Among America's Teachers," 5 percent of the nation's teachers are honored in each edition, and fewer than 2 percent are included in more than one edition.
Dr. Paternostro taught human anatomy and physiology courses at the College from 1994-99. After working at James Madison University, he returned to Penn College in 2001 to take the role of assistant dean of integrated studies.
In 2004, he was promoted to associate vice president for academic services. In addition to his administrative duties, Dr. Paternostro continues to teach, voluntarily, at least one anatomy and physiology course each semester.
"It's a pleasant surprise," he said. "I'm glad to see that what I do translates over to the classroom. It's nice to see that students get something out of what I'm doing in the classroom."
The ninth edition of "Who's Who Among America's Teachers" will be published in October.
