5K Race to Raise Scholarship Funds for Health Sciences Students

Pennsylvania College of Technology's School of Health Sciences will host a 5K Walk/Run on Oct. 8 as part of the college's Homecoming festivities.

Net proceeds from the race will support the School of Health Sciences Endowed Scholarship Fund, which benefits the school's students. Fundraising efforts for the scholarship are coordinated by School of Health Sciences faculty and staff.

The race is set to begin at 9 a.m. at the college's main entrance off Maynard Street. Registration will take place from 7:30 to 8:45 a.m. The cost to register before Oct. 7 is $15. Race-day registration is $20. To request a registration form, email the School of Health Sciences or call 570-320-2400, ext. 7240.

Prizes will be awarded to the top overall male and female runner and walker.

Recipients of the School of Health Sciences Scholarship will be selected from eligible applicants who are enrolled full time in at least their second semester of any major in the School of Health Sciences with a GPA of at least 3.0. An applicant's community service and college extracurricular activities will be considered.

The School of Health Sciences offers bachelor's degrees in applied health studies, dental hygiene, nursing and physician assistant, as well as associate degrees in dental hygiene, emergency medical services, health arts, nursing, occupational therapy assistant, physical fitness specialist, radiography and surgical technology. It offers certificates in paramedic technician and practical nursing.
