Saturday book-signing to feature two college employee/authors

The Otto Bookstore in downtown Williamsport is hosting a book signing featuring Pennsylvania College of Technology employees and recent authors Megan E. Rogers and Thomas F. Speicher on Saturday, June 26, from 11 a.m.-1 p.m.

"Meet Mason""Bucky Deacon's Dilemma"Rogers, a part-time information desk assistant at the Student & Administrative Services Center, published “Meet Mason,” an illustrated children’s book inspired by her 9-year-old son who has been blind since birth. The book’s objective is to help kids relate to those who are blind or have other special needs.

Speicher, a writer/video producer at the college, co-authored “Bucky Deacon’s Dilemma” with his late mentor, Bill Byham. Speicher revised and updated Byham’s manuscript from the 1980s to publish the book geared to middle-school readers. The book teaches important life lessons through the experiences of Bucky Deacon and his eighth-grade football team.

Both books are available on Amazon and at Otto’s. A portion of the proceeds from “Bucky Deacon’s Dilemma” is being donated to a scholarship fund at Penn College. Rogers hopes to use proceeds from her book to start a foundation dedicated to assisting single parents of children who have special needs.

The Otto Bookstore, at 107 W. Fourth St., is America’s oldest independently operated bookstore.
