115 Participate in Second Allyson Wilgar-Jones Memorial 5K

Runners traverse campus to raise scholarship funds in memory of Allyson Wilgar-Jones.The second “Catch Me if You Can” Allyson Wilgar-Jones Memorial 5K Walk/Run attracted 115 participants Saturday, despite chilly weather. The walk/run is organized by Penn College nursing faculty in memory of Wilgar-Jones, a colleague who died in 2004 after a brief battle with cancer. The $6,991 raised from Saturday’s event will be used for the Allyson Wilgar-Jones Memorial Scholarship, which is awarded based on need and merit to Penn College associate- or bachelor-degree nursing students. T-shirts from the walk/run still are available for sale (sizes small to extra large) at $10 each.
