Rosemarie Bernardi, at the April 4 opening of her Penn College exhibit,The Gallery at Penn College on the main campus of Pennsylvania College of Technology will host "Bearing Water: Prints and Drawings," a collection by Rosemarie Bernardi, from April 4-28.

An opening reception will take place from 3:30 to 6 p.m. on Tuesday, April 4, with an artist's talk at 4 p.m. After the opening, viewing hours for the exhibit will be Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2 to 6 p.m., or by appointment.

The gallery will host additional viewing hours from 6 to 8 p.m. on April 7 in conjunction with Williamsport's First Friday event. The Gallery at Penn College is in Room 202 of the Bush Campus Center. All exhibits are free and open to the public.

Bernardi is an associate professor of printmaking in the art department at Keene State College, Keene, N.H. She has also held positions as an associate professor of art at the University of Delaware, the University of Arizona and the University of Alabama. She earned a master of fine arts degree in printmaking from the University of Cincinnati.

'Bearing Water 2,' 2005, photograph, 21x 20 inchesHer work consists of drawings, photos and intaglio prints and texts, often combined to create dynamic wall installations. Thematically, her work involves poetic interpretations of images culled from the figure and, most recently, from medical museums around the world. In 2000, she received a Keene State College Faculty Grant to travel to the Specula Museum in Florence, Italy, where she photographed and made drawings from the collection.

Her work has been shown in more than 150 exhibitions across the United States and abroad and is included in the collections of the Biblioteque Nationale in Paris, the Philadelphia Museum of Art and the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art, Kansas City, Mo.

She has received numerous grants including five residencies at the prestigious MacDowell Colony and a National Endowment for the Arts Individual Artist Fellowship. For more information about The Gallery at Penn College, call (570) 326-3761, ext. 7973; send e-mail or visit online.
