Penn College Summer Commencement to Be Held Aug. 9

A commencement ceremony will be held Saturday, Aug. 9, for the nearly 270 students who have petitioned to graduate following the summer sessions at Pennsylvania College of Technology.

The ceremony will begin at 11 a.m. in the Community Arts Center, 220 W. Fourth St., Williamsport.

The student speaker is Kaitlin M. Savidge, of Northumberland, who will receive an Associate of Applied Science degree in emergency medical services. Prior to commencement, Savidge will receive the Susquehanna Health Program Award for Paramedic, the Dennis R. Dougherty Award for Paramedic and the Paramedic Director’s Award.



Savidge is a graduate of the Penn College Youth Leadership Program (formerly Youth Leadership Lycoming). Her volunteer activities include Toys for Tots and the American Rescue Workers and service as an emergency medical technician for the Montgomery Volunteer Fire Co. She has been employed as a paramedic intern at Evangelical Community Hospital, Lewisburg.

During the commencement ceremony, the college will present a Distinguished Alumni Award, given to those who have made significant contributions in their chosen fields, demonstrated the importance of their education at Penn College, participated in leadership roles within the community, and demonstrated a commitment to the college and community relations.

Degrees will be conferred by Penn College President Davie Jane Gilmour, accompanied by Steven P. Johnson, a member of the college’s Board of Directors and president and CEO of Susquehanna Health.
