Penn College again named 'Military Friendly'Pennsylvania College of Technology’s strong commitment to veterans has earned the institution “Military Friendly” status for the fifth consecutive year. Victory Media recently announced Penn College as a Military Friendly School for 2014.

The designation is reserved for the top 15 percent of colleges, universities and trade schools that demonstrate a “strong interest” in recruiting and retaining military and veteran students and provide the “best experience” to such students, according to Victory Media. The veteran-owned business is the publisher of G.I. Jobs magazine and the Guide to Military Friendly Schools.

“Once again, Penn College is honored to be designated a Military Friendly School,” said Dennis L. Correll, associate dean for admissions and financial aid. “The entire enrollment staff, from admissions to the academic schools, ensures that military personnel who wish to come to Penn College are guided with ease. Returning home and acclimating to new processes and procedures can be overwhelming for many veterans. We are here to help them through the process and assist their transition to college.”

A record number of veteran students, 345, are enrolled at Penn College for the Fall 2013 semester, including 110 new students.

Victory Media compiled the Military Friendly Schools list following extensive research and a data-driven survey of more than 12,000 schools nationwide approved for Veterans Administration funding. An Academic Advisory Board, consisting of educators from schools across the country, assisted Victory Media with developing the school survey, methodology, criteria and weightings.

“Competition for the 2014 Military Friendly Schools list was fierce, and as a result, we raised the already stringent criteria to a higher benchmark,” said Rich McCormack, president of Victory Media, in notifying Penn College of the honor. “On behalf of the 8 million military members and veterans seeking a school, I thank you for your commitment to educating our nation’s most deserving heroes.”
