Pennsylvania College of Technology’s North Campus, located at Wellsboro Area High School and the district administration building, will host information sessions in June for those interested in a nursing career.

The sessions include information about the application process, tuition and financial aid for the North Campus practical nursing program. Visitors may have their questions answered about the program, licensure and job opportunities for graduates.

The next practical nursing program at the North Campus is scheduled to begin Jan. 2. Information sessions will be held at 6 p.m. and at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, June 11, in the old music room at the school district’s administration building. Natalie O. DeLeonardis, coordinator of the North Campus practical nursing program, will be the presenter.

Excellent career opportunities exist for LPNs in area hospitals, clinics, nursing homes, personal-care facilities and human-service organizations. In July, the North Campus will begin pre-admission testing and accepting applications. All applicants must complete pre-entrance requirements by Oct. 1 to be considered for admission into the program beginning in January.

Classes for the 12-month, full-time practical nursing program are held at Wellsboro Area High School, with clinical experiences conducted at Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hospital, the Green Home and Broad Acres Health and Rehabilitation Center in Wellsboro, as well as other area facilities.

The practical nursing program is fully approved by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing and is accredited by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission. Those successfully completing the program will be prepared to take the National Council Licensure Exam (NCLEX-PN) for licensure as an LPN.

The clock-hour program, eligible for Pell Grants and Stafford loans, is designed specifically for the North Campus by Workforce Development & Continuing Education at Penn College.
