Pennsylvania College of Technology President Davie Jane Gilmour, left, with Mentorship Award winner Emilie E. Faillo.Pennsylvania College of Technology has presented a Mentorship Award to Emilie E. Faillo, of Narberth, a 2001 culinary graduate who, in the course of her professional life, has coordinated a variety of real-world work experiences and mentoring opportunities for Penn College students.

The Mentorship Award is given annually to alumni or businesses making significant and/or ongoing contributions to the education and development of Penn College students through mentoring and professional guidance.

Faillo, one of the first students to complete the Bachelor of Science in culinary arts technology at Penn College, works for Levy Restaurants Sports & Entertainment Group as operations manager at Ripken Stadium, home of the Aberdeen (Md.) IronBirds, a minor league affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles. Ripken Stadium also hosts a variety of public and private events.

Previously for Levy Restaurants, Faillo worked as the first female executive chef at Lincoln Financial Field, home of the Philadelphia Eagles, and traveled the country as an executive chef supporting nine racetracks for NASCAR and Indy car races. She has also traveled for Levy in support of such large-scale events as the Kentucky Derby, the Breeders' Cup, NCAA championships and National Football league games.

As a student at Penn College, Faillo was among a group of School of Hospitality students invited to work with a company providing food service at Churchill Downs for the Kentucky Derby. Later, as an employee of Levy Restaurants, Faillo was instrumental in securing an invitation for Penn College to return to the derby, where she has worked alongside students and faculty from the college.

The relationship with Levy Restaurants also has led to Penn College students working at major events such as the Breeders' Cup and the Ryder Cup golf competition between Europe and the United States.

In her current position, Faillo offers summer internships and job opportunities to Penn College students. Levy Restaurants also offers summer and full-time positions to the college's students.

"We are pleased to present the 2011 Mentorship Award to Emilie Faillo, who has been a true mentor enthusiastically supporting our Penn College students, programs and faculty," said Penn College President Davie Jane Gilmour, who presented the award to Faillo at commencement Aug. 6.
