Fifteen senior graphic design students at Pennsylvania College of Technology will exhibit their work as part of “Design: 2013” at The Gallery at Penn College, on the third floor of the Madigan Library.
Each student will show eight works – including posters, book covers, magazine spreads and logos – that represent the best of their collegiate portfolios, as judged by graphic design faculty. The exhibit runs from April 26 to May 17.
“‘Design: 2013’ showcases the many talents and skills that Penn College students have developed during their studies toward earning the baccalaureate degree in graphic design,” said Paul R. Watson II, assistant dean of integrated studies-programs. “This gallery exhibition highlights their artistic expressions in creating portfolios that reflect their unique creative abilities and will help them secure careers in graphic design. They strive for the maxim set forth by Massimo Vignelli when he says that ‘we like design to be visually powerful, intellectually elegant, and above all, timeless.’”
Participating students and their hometowns are:
Angela R. Barletta, of Muncy; Heather C. Barnhart, of South Williamsport; Crystal J. Broscious, of Williamsport; Emily M. Cogswell, of Sugar Run; Christopher J. Cosgrove, of Jefferson Township; Daniel I. Henrickson, of Bloomsburg; Laurea A. Lapp, of Muncy; Michele D. Lucas, of Williamsport; Brittany L. Mase, of Liberty; Kristen P. Miller, of South Williamsport; Kyle R. Taylor, of Williamsport; Jessica L. Tobias, of Cogan Station; Nathan S. Santichen, of York; Michael A. Siemianowski, of Oakmont; and Lewis R. Weaver, of Centre Hall.
A public reception for the exhibit is scheduled for April 26 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. During the reception, students will be available to show their complete portfolios and talk about their work. Watson will give a gallery talk at 5:30 p.m.
All exhibits are free and open to the public. The gallery is open Sunday, 1 to 4 p.m.; Tuesday and Thursday, 2 to 7 p.m.; and Wednesday and Friday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. (closed Saturday and Monday).
